Description

There’s a lot of things you need to think about before you hit the trail. You don’t want to be the guy that is bumming beers on an overnight or borrowing a tow strap if you’re stuck. You want to head out confident that you’ve got everything in your arsenal in case you get in a jam. A reliable CB should be at the top of your packing list and this kit is built around the Uniden 510, a CB as frills-free as a weekend in the woods. It’s legendary with our off-roading and industrial vehicle owners for its ability to stand up to anything the road throws at it. Also included in the kit is a Firestik FS or Wilson FLEX antenna, choice of mounting hardware, high-grade coax and SWR meter—everything you need for a complete install. So next time you’re the jerk that forgot to bring extra beer, you can radio your buddy to grab more. (It’s the least you can do.)

Recommended for: Jeep and off-road users who need a durable, long-lasting CB system. This package features multiple Jeep-specific mounts that attach to the hood, tail light or spare tire carrier (see "Mounting Hardware" for compatibility). This kit is also useful for light truck drivers, as the compact radio fits easily in a small cab, and the three-way mount can easily attach to the pickup bed rail. If you drive an FJ Cruiser, choose the Bandi mount, which attaches to the hinge of the tailgate with no drilling.

Radio: Choose between the Uniden 510 or Uniden 520 CB radios. These compact, durable radios will easily fit in the cab of your vehicle without taking up valuable space. The Uniden Pro 510 XL is the base model radio, while the 520 XL offers PA (public address) and RF gain functions. If you would like to have a PA system, make sure to select the Uniden Pro 520.

Antenna: The kit provides two antenna options

Firestik FS: The Firestik FS series is the most popular fiberglass CB antenna on the market today. It doesn't offer the flexibility of the Wilson Flex, but it does provide significantly better transmit and receive performance. Also, you can add a CB spring to the antenna and mount to provide limited flexibility if desired. If optimal range is most important, the Firestik FS antenna is a better choice than the Wilson Flex.

Wilson Flex: On the trail, it's convenient to have an antenna that can survive getting snagged, bent, bowed and abused. Subsequently, we picked an antenna that can bend 180 degrees without breaking

Mounting Hardware: We include a choice of six mounting kits for a great deal of flexibility and customization. All kits include a quality CB antenna mount and a high-grade CB coax cable. Three mounting options are included in the price of the kit, while custom Jeep and FJ mounts are available as a $19.95 upgrade.

But when I do, it’s always Uniden...

This is my first experience and first time shopping with RCR. I am just getting around to installing now. I’ve had this same unit and set-up in 3 previous Jeeps and I know it’s going to meet my needs. I will update this review if the radio is anything less than perfect. RCR Customer Service is great too! Didn’t really need them, but wanted their opinion… Response was quick and confirmed my thinking. Gave me great peace of mind! Honestly, best part was RCR recommending a certain part they do not currently sell at the moment. I appreciate that as opposed to most who would just sell you into another part they sell. RCR will be my go to shop moving forward. Her’s the specs on what I purchased, oh yeah also added the quick disconnect for the antenna and the right angle connector, not needed, just preferences of mine. Uniden in Jeep Tj

The whole kit was exactly as ordered, described and came very prompetly. It is an excelent kit for the Jeep or Toyota owner looking for a small package to talk to other friends on the trail. Since I have got the kit CB's have became a hobby to me and the radio has left me wishing I had a larger unit with more capabilities and features. If your not intrested in turning it on every time you drive then the kit is great. Right Channel has also been a company I will continue to do buisness with and has been great to deal with. I recomend this product.
