I'm really impressed with this hand held radio (HH Road Trip--38 WXST)
I ordered the Road Trip Thursday afternoon and received it Saturday
morning, and that was without shipping charges! You can't beat Right
Channel Radio for it's service and information to their customers. This being
my first portable radio, I was amazed at the new technology it has. My
Cobra 138 from the 80's still works great and looks like new. The two together
will be great for camping. I can hookup the HH Road Trip to the 5' Firestik on
my van and reach out like my 138 CB. All the way around, it's a great, well worth
the price radio. Thanks Pat for your excellent service.......talk to you soon.

Good radio for the price and easily transportable from car to truck to home.

With the external rubber antenna , my road trip gets out to a radius of about 6 miles. When connected to a better antenna via a bnc/PL259 adapter, the range is about a 15 mile radius. Engine noise was a minor issue when plugged into the cigarette/accessory socket, however using a length of shielded wire and an accessory socket direct wired to the battery with the shield as ground in standard old school CB power rigging reduced it as did running off the in radio battery pack.

I bought the lapel speaker mic for mine and that makes it easier to use when driving but the small microphone feels a little weird in use as a handheld mic when I use the Roadtrip HH38 as a base station using the belt clip to mount the radio on a plastic strip I have bolted to the wall behind my desk by where the base station lead comes in and I have the a/c charger plugged in.
